SOCI 537 Deciphering Our Social Worlds looks at recent trends in systems theory, conflict theory, symbolic interactionism, ethnomethodology, critical theory, neo-marxism, sociobiology, feminism, standpoint theory, and queer theory. Special attention is also given to postmodern, poststructuralist, and postcolonial theories, and to some of the more recent controversial social theorists. This course provides you with the tools to analyze social theories and ideologies in terms of their basic assumptions, key concepts, and explanatory narratives.
